  1. What is AAU? The Amateur Athletic Union is a national organization dedicated to amateur sports and physical fitness programs. Look on our links page for websites that will explain the national and local associations.

  2. How does my daughter get on a MI Shock team? Register on our contact page and come to the tryouts. Tryouts are in early December and each player has a chance to make one of the teams. No player is guaranteed a spot on a team.

  3. How many teams are there? There can be as many as 3 teams per age group that are selected by ability level during the tryouts. Coaches may also use other settings where they have seen the player as a part of the evaluation process.

  4. How is the age group determined? The age as of December 31st, Current Year is the age group for that player .

  5. What is involved in the commitment to a MI Shock team? It is expected that a player will make all the games and practices. There are always conflicts but absences disrupt the team and are unfair to the player's coaches and teammates. Communication with the coaches is crucial about these items.

  6. What about the time involved? There normally may be at least two practices during the week. Teams will play in 6 to 10 weekend tournaments, depending on team selection.

  7. What's the cost? The club fee is determined by the team you make. Each team will present a cost sheet at their first parent meeting.

  8. Is there fund raising? Each team does its own fundraising and will have opportunities to host Shock tournaments held during the season. Other fundraising activities can be accomplished through parent meetings and ideas.

  9. What are the goals? For the players to grow as people and players, for the team to play as well as it can, and for everyone to have some fun.
